Mowell & Co Ltd was founded by Raymond Smith in 1955 and originally based in a small workshop in Milton near Cambridge.
Principally the company started by repairing and selling lawn mowers, hence the name Mowell.
However it wasn`t long before the company became involved in Steel Fabrication and moved to a new purpose built premises poineering a new industrial estate in Milton and establishing the Mowell name with architects builders hospitals schools universities and blus chip companies across the region.
Manufacturing and installing a wide range of products from residential gates and railing through to commercial staircases fire escapes security gates fencing window bars, and structural steel beams for builders.
In 1997 Raymond Smith retired and passed the business on to his sons with Martin Smith becoming Managing Director.
The Company moved to the Tudor Rose Industrial Estate in Chatteris and once again in 2001 constructed it`s own purpose built premises adjacent to the Tudor Rose Industrial Estate in Dock Road, Chatteris.
Where it is now based, and still successfully trading on the same princples of customer service and in depth knowledge of the industry.
